Carpet Buckled After Cleaning, HELP!

Did you just have your carpets cleaned and now have carpet buckling issues?

Don't panic! Buckling is normal and usually caused by improperly stretched carpets. In the past, I mean about 30 years ago, carpets would shrink when over wet, because the backing had a natural material called jute that absorbed water.

Today, carpet backing is made from synthetic materials and doesn't absorb water. When the carpets get wet the fibers relax and that is when buckling occurs. After about 3 days the carpets will be totally dry and the buckling should subside. Note: If there was previous apparent buckling then when water is added to the carpet the buckling will become worse, until the carpet dries. When the carpet fully dries the original amount of buckling or lack thereof will return.

Before Cleaning
It is important for a Portland carpet cleaner to disclose the possibility of buckling before starting to clean the carpet.

Hope this information is helpful...until next time...Sean
